NATA IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

ACCEPTABLE PRIMARY IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

A government-issued identification document that has not expired (including but not limited to passport, permanent driver's license, state ID cards, national identification, UID card) in original.

      Std XII exam admit card with photo and signature (in original) for candidates awaiting  10+2 or equivalent exam results

      Student ID card from the institute where he / she is currently enrolled and Confirmation of identity letter from the candidate's educational institution (in original).

ACCEPTABLE SUPPLEMENTAL IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS


If the candidate's primary identification is missing either a photo or a signature, he / she must present one of the following supplemental IDs in addition to the primary ID. Supplemental IDs that can be used to meet the photo and/or signature requirements are:

      A government-issued identification document that has not expired (including but not limited to passport, driver's license, state ID cards, national identification).

      Confirmation of identity letter from the candidate's educational institution.

      The confirmation of identity letter must contain the candidate's date of birth; a recent, recognizable photo; the candidate's signature; and the date issued.


THE CONFIRMATION OF IDENTITY LETTER MUST BE TYPED ON THE ORIGINAL LETTERHEAD OF THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION THE CANDIDATE ATTEND(ED), AND THE SIGNATURE OF THE SCHOOL

OFFICIAL AND THE SCHOOL SEAL MUST OVERLAP THE CANDIDATE'S PHOTO. A LETTER OF IDENTITY IS VALID FOR ONLY ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE.

INFORMATION FOR ALL CANDIDATES

The candidate must have an acceptable and valid Identification Document (ID) details of which are mentioned on the appointment voucher, with signature, and appointment voucher to be admitted to a Test Center. ID requirements are strictly enforced. It is the candidate's responsibility to read and understand the instructions and requirements.

      Report to the test center at least 1 hour before scheduled time of test.

      If the candidate arrives at the Test Center without the required identification documents The Test Center in-charge will not admit the candidate and the candidate will not be allowed to take the test

      In addition, the candidate will forfeit the test fee.



      NAME CHANGES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If the candidate's name has changed for any reason, including marriage, the candidate still must present primary identification in the name under which he / she made the appointment, otherwise the candidate will not be permitted to appear in test. Marriage certificates and divorce decrees cannot be used to confirm name differences.

      If the Test Center in-charge questions the ID proof the candidate presents, the candidate will be required to present additional proof of identity. If positive confirmation cannot be made, the candidate may be refused admission to the Test Center and the candidate will forfeit the test fee paid.

      Test Center personnel will check the candidate's identification before assigning the candidate a seat at the Test Center. The administrator will check to verify that the candidate is the person in his photo identification. The test center in-charge will repeat this procedure before and after all breaks.

      Admittance to the Test Center does not imply that the candidate's form of identification is valid or that the candidate's scores will be reported. All reported cases of questionable identification are subject to review and approval by the Competent Authority of Testing Integrity.

REPEATING NATA & NATA EXAM SCHEDULE

REPEATING NATA

Candidates can attempt NATA for a maximum of 5 (Five) times during the period when their latest scorecard is valid.

 For every attempt, however, a new NATA Registration form is to be submitted online by the candidate at the NATA website

The mark list will show the best marks scored by the candidate in his previous 5 attempts. Do not register for repeat attempt unless you receive score card for previous attempt.
  

Candidate, while seeking the repeat test appointment must declare the same (even if he has appeared in the previous year) while registering for NATA.

 If any candidate is found registering afresh despite earlier appearance (including registered but exam not given) for NATA, he/ she will forfeit his/her candidature, his/her all previous scores will be cancelled and he/she will be barred from appearing for NATA again. 

Please note that the "Best of 5" attempt system will be applicable for the test given from NATA 2016 onwards. Students who have a valid score of NATA tests given before year 2016, and give NATA in 2016, the best score of the earlier valid score and current NATA score will be considered.

NATA EXAM SCHEDULE

Nata Test shall be conducted from 01.04.2016 to 28.05.2016 and from 06.06.2016 to 20.08.2016 and can be given during this period as per the pre-decided schedule of the designated Test Centers.

Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE NATA

REGISTER FOR THE NATA

The Registration Form duly filled in should be submitted to test center where you wish to take the test and seek registration and appointment.

 Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register well in advance to get the candidate's preferred test date.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Approach the Test center located at centers / schools and college/ school of Architecture at a location convenient to the candidate with the filled up form and the documents listed below.

Documents required for Registration

• Std. X or equivalent exam mark list - attested copy

• One recent passport size color photograph, to be pasted on the registration form.

• Any valid document of identification bearing photograph and signature of the candidate - attested copy

• Valid email address. (In case you do not possess one, we suggest you to open email account on one of the free service providers such as yahoo, Hotmail, rediffmail, g mail, etc. PLEASE DO NOT REVEALYOUR PASSWORD TO ANY ONE.)

The Appointment voucher

• On successful registration and granting of appointment, an Appointment voucher is issued to the candidate by the Test centre.

• The candidate at the time of Registration shall ensure that correct data is entered by the Test Centre employee. The candidate should check it carefully to make sure the Name, identifying information and address are correct and are spelt correctly before going to step 2 of registration and also on receiving the appointment voucher.

• Once registered, no corrections are possible. Candidate will have to purchase fresh registration form and get registered again.

• The Appointment voucher also shows Candidate ID, Appointment Number and Exam Key. The Appointment Number and Exam Key are used by the candidate to log in at the time of the test.

• There are two counterfoils on the appointment voucher. The applicant has to sign the counterfoil in presence of the Hall supervisor at the time of the test, and hand over the same to him / her.

• Please do not sign the counterfoil in advance. Sign the counterfoil only when the hall supervisor asks you to. If the hall supervisor finds the counterfoil already signed, he / she may disallow the candidate to proceed with the test and his / her candidature will get forfeited. 

• The candidate will be required to sign the Test Centre attendance register before and after the test session and any time the candidate leaves or enterthe test room.

 • Insist on appointment voucher to be handed over to you. In case any test centre refuses issuing of appointment voucher or asks for any additional fees or puts in conditions of any sort, please report to Council of Architecture or its academic unit NIASA immediately on the email "support@nata.in".

 Important Things to Remember When Registering

• Register well in advance. During the peak admission season, Test Centres fill up quickly.

• Take the test as soon as possible to ensure that the candidate's score card / Mark list will be ready in time to be submitted at the time of applying for admission.

 • When registering, be sure that the spelling of the candidate's name matches with the name printed on the identification document(s) the candidate will present at the Test Centre. If this information does not match, the candidate will not be permitted to appear in test and his / her test fee will be forfeited.

DURATION AND STAGES OF B.ARCH DEGREE

DURATION AND STAGES OF B.ARCH DEGREE

(i) The B.Arch. degree programme shall be of a minimum duration of 5 academic Years / 10 semesters inclusive of one semester of professional training.

(ii) The 5 years B.Arch. Degree programme is conducted in two stages.

a. The First stage of the programme shall be the first 3 academic years or 6 semesters of institutional academic studies.

b. The Second stage of the programme shall be of 2 academic years/ 4 semesters including one semester of professional training during seventh semester.

(iii) A student is normally expected to complete the B.Arch. degree Programme in 10 semesters but in any case not more than 14 consecutive semesters from the time of commencement of the programme.


(iv) Registration of the candidates under the Architects Act, 1972, which is a mandatory requirement for the practice of Architectural profession and teaching, is possible only after successful completion of both the stages.

STRUCTURE OF B.ARCH DEGREE

            The B.Arch. degree programme will have a curriculum with syllabi consisting of theory courses, studio oriented courses and studio courses. The course structure comprises of the following:

(i) Allied Core courses such as Mathematics, Mechanics of Structures and Building Structures are offered.

(ii) Core theory courses such as Building materials, Vernacular Architecture, Art and Aesthetics, History of Architecture, Building Services, Materials and Construction, Site Planning and Analysis, Climatology, Climatic Design, Urban Communities, Theories of Thinking, Professional Practice and Ethics, Urban Design etc.

(iii) Studio oriented courses such as Structures Studio and Construction Studios are offered.

(iv) Studio courses such as Design Studio, Architectural Drawing, Art Studio Workshop, Computer Studio, Dissertation and Thesis.

(v) Electives offered by the Department, Faculty and the University related to the programme of study.

(vi) University Electives to be chosen from the group of courses offered, which can be chosen by any student under any programme.

(vii) Compulsory rural study in the third semester and Educational Tour in the seventh semester after the Professional Training.

(viii) Professional training in seventh semester for exposure to Architectural professional practice including office procedures.

(ix) Dissertation and Pre Thesis during ninth semester and Thesis work in the tenth semester respectively.

NATA Architecture Entrance Exam Patterns

Archzone Nata Coaching Studio provides high quality coaching for entrance exam of  NATA  at graduate and post-graduate level.

NATA Pattern
Drawing Paper—100 --- 3 Drawing based questions are asked as follows:
·         Memory Drawing (50 marks) – Questions are complex and advanced. Scenes or scapes have to be drawn from an odd points of view e.g. modern city scape from point of view of high flying bird.

·         3D Designs (25 marks) – Students are asked to visualize and draw balanced 3D structures or still life giving effects of light and shadow.
2D Designs (25 marks) – Students aesthetic and color sense is tested. Questions are for compositions, posters, logos and other communications.

Aesthetic Sensitivity—100--- This is a multiple choice, online and computer adaptive test. 

There are 40 questions, each carrying varying amount of marks depending on how easy or difficult the questions are. Each student gets a different set of questions. The questions are aimed at testing basic mental abilities (e.g. Quantitative Abilities, Analytical thinking, English) and architectural awareness of the students.

Total-- 200

Eligibility for NATA: 10+2 from any recognized board with 50% marks. Maths is compulsory. Science stream is not necessary.




This is a two-hour paper where candidate has to attempt two questions. One of the questions has two sub questions.
The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects –
Ø   Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.
Ø   Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
Ø   Sense of perspective drawing.
Ø   Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
Ø   Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms.
Ø   Creating visual harmony using colors in given composition.
Ø Understanding of scale and proportions.
Ø   Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences
Aesthetic Sensitivity Test
This is computer based test of one hour where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions.
The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of –
Ø  Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
Ø  Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects.
Ø  Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities. Analytical reasoning. Mental Ability.
Ø  Imaginative comprehension and expression Architectural awareness.
